The ten foot wide "Bay House", (originally titled "Infidel") seen on the right, was created for St. Mary's College of Maryland. Sited on a knoll near the original Yoacomaco settlement overlooking a lovely finger lake of the Chesapeake Bay, it commands a spectacular two-mile view across the water. A variation on the theme is sited at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. It faces west toward High Peak and Bear Mountain on the first range of the Blue Ridge. VCCA Fellows gather there to watch the sun set beyond the hills.

This 18 foot hexagonal arbor was created at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, an international retreat for artists. It is used for private contemplative space and for intimate candlelit dinners. Seen on the left with morning glories growing on it, and on the right with hyacinth beans, it can also support climbing roses or grapes. (see outdoor rooms)

Et in Arcadia Ego, the two-story structure on the left, was created for the North Carolina Museum of Art. It was sited atop a twenty foot hill and set into a field of 10,000 marigold blooms. The NC Museum of Art shares grounds with the state's now-defunct youth prison. The piece, which incorporates the prison guard towers (see craigpleasants.com), infers a relationship between museum and prison. The Other Pentagon on the right is made from whitewashed and clay-slipped pine slats. It is designed to be sited in a meadow where one can sit on the soapstone seat or lie on the grass within.
